After application CAF/APL: how to track my file?

Once you have applied for CAF, you must upload your documents to your account. Without it, you won’t receive your aid.

Good news: even if you take months to download them, the date of the online request is taken into consideration for the beginning of your aid.
For example, if you have applied in September 24 but finished uploading the documents in December 24, you will receive your aid from November 24 (the month following your application). However, you will not receive the aid until your file is complete, so you will have to wait until your December documents are validated to receive it.

How to connect to my CAF account?

You have 2 options to connect to your personal space :

Option 1: you have a temporary ID (received by email and during your application) click on the blue link on “J’ai un identidiant provisoire”

If you have lost your temporary n°, click on “Identifiant provisoire oublié” or “mot de passe oublié” (forgotten password) and write only your family name under “Birth name”.

Option 2: you have created your CAF account with your social security n°

How to download my CAF document?

  • On your private account :

ONce connected, on the right column “Transmettre un document”.

Or click on Suivre mes démarches then “Transmettre mes documents”.

Check here how to apply for CAF.

Receive your CAF file number

You will receive your file n° (called also “n° allocataire” in French) by post (10 to 20 days after your application in low season and up to 2 months in high season – high season is from Sept to January).

Before receiving it you don’t have to contact them, they won’t know you, even if you already have applied, your file has not been processed.

If you don’t receive your file number, you need to contact the CAF and send them your proof of application.

This file number is different than the temporary login ID (starting by P) you have received from the CAF during your application, that you use to connect yourself to your personal area.

I haven’t received my aid

If you have not received the aide after 2 months (or if it stopped) :

Option 1: send them a message, through your account (you can do that only if you connect with your social security n°).

In your account, on the right column on the main page, click on “Contactez ma CAF” to check if your file is complete because if it’s not you will lose precious months with a blocked file and ask how many months of treatment is needed in your city to know when you will receive your aid.

Write them in French, a short sentence: “Bonjour, est-ce que mon dossier est complet et quand vais-je recevoir l’aide ? Merci”

Option 2 : you need to contact them by phone but they only have a French line.

Usually, it takes around 2 and 7 months to receive the aid. To speed up the process, you need to call them (quicker than message through your account).

3 months after your request you can ask them to deal with your request with an emergency mention.

What I’m not seeing any information on my CAF account?

Because you don’t have created your account with your social security number.

You need a full account to be able to change your address in case you are moving out or check your aid received.

As soon as you receive your aid, or your social security number is activated, you should have access to the full account.
